How To Pick Paint Colors

05.14.2010 by Amanda Hartley //

Have you ever tried to find the “perfect” paint color?  Labored over color samples using those tiny little pieces of paper to imagine how that color would look on your wall?  Only to think you’ve found the “perfect” color, but when you paint it on the wall it’s brighter or darker than you imagined?  Have you ever wondered how to pick paint colors that are perfect for your walls the first time?

Well you are not alone!  And thankfully, paint companies have finally figured out that we need a little help!  So many of them have started selling interior paint samples that you can take home and actually paint a section of your wall.

How To Pick Paint Colors

The old way to do this was to purchase a quart of paint, which at $9-$15 a quart could add up pretty quickly.  These days, you can simply purchase a small sample for around $3.

If the paint you are thinking of purchasing doesn’t come in small samples, then just take those tiny paper interior paint samples to Lowe’s or Home Depot.  They can color match your sample for free and then sell you a small interior paint sample for the price listed above.

So there you have it. If you’re trying to find the “perfect” color without the headache of unused paint, now there is a better way to do it.  Get a small interior paint sample and try it out on your wall before you buy new paint and you won’t have any surprises!

Mohawk Smartstrand vs. Shaw R2X Carpet

Recently I found a series of videos on YouTube that reminded me of the Mac vs. Windows commercials we’ve all seen on TV. The difference however, was that these videos were for Mohawk Smartstrand vs. Shaw R2X Carpet!  Needless to say I was intrigued. With the exception of Armstrong, I’ve found that most flooring commercials […]
